A Review of FURIOUS RUSH by S.C. Stephens

“The heat in his eyes was an equal match for mine, and for a minute, I couldn’t tell if the sparks flying between us were anger… or something else.”‪ #‎FuriousRush‬

Our 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Review of FURIOUS RUSH by S.C. Stephens

From the first moment I read the synopsis of this novel, I was intrigued and thrilled by the premise: the daughter of a racing legend looking to make her mark in the male-dominated circuit falls for a rider on the rival team. But this is no simple romance with two people competing against one another, two people who seem to push one another both on and off the track. No. S.C. Stephens steps up the game by weaving into the story a background in which the two teams have a long-standing rivalry that make a relationship between the two not only impossible, but complete career suicide. This is a forbidden love wrapped up in secrets that could have devastating consequences.

“I never said rules were stupid, sweetheart. If there were no rules…well, then, it would be impossible for me to break them, wouldn’t it?”

Makenzie Cox is a determined woman who wants nothing more than to make her father happy and follow in his footsteps. She does not have time for distractions; her life is lived on the track and her dreams are to make a name for herself. Disciplined and focused, Makenzie does not tolerate those who break the rules. But when her path crosses with that of the sexy and arrogant Hayden Hayes, she can’t seem to help the chemistry and pull he has on her.  There is just something about him that continues to works its way under her skin, causing her to push her own boundaries.

“God, Kenzie, just shut up and let go,” he growled…”

Hayden Hayes knows exactly what he does to Mackenzie, and he loves every moment he is able to affect her. Although they know they are forbidden to be seen together, Hayden is just clever enough to push the rules to find a way. Besides, he knows the affect he has on her, and there is no way he is going to pass up such an opportunity.  But as the chemistry between the two heats up and the stakes get higher, other obstacles find their way into the mix—obstacles and hardships that may have greater consequences than either one would ever expect.

‘“For this, Kenzie. We risk it for this…”

He lowered his lips and I met him halfway.”

Although the two characters seemed completely wrong for one another at the beginning, S.C. Stephens did a great job of helping the characters evolve and grow. As backgrounds were shared and pasts discovered, the connection between the two became more clear. These two were meant for one another. They each brought a balance, passion, and clarity to the other. By the end of the story, I loved the two together and found myself cheering for the tough call Stephens adds to the plot twist. So what would you do if you could not have it all?  Do you stick with family, chase your dreams, or follow your heart?   And once that choice is made, what will the future hold?

This is a great story that give readers a little suspense, some great action, and a strong level of chemistry that will have you turning pages and needing the rest of the story. Even though there was not an indication that this is a part of a series, it is clear by the ending that there is so much more to this story, and I, for one, can’t wait for the rest.
