Title: Catching Summer
Series: Second Chances
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Former nurse Summer Jacobs has seen her fair share of suffering, but she never expected tragedy to hit so close to home. After watching her husband die in the MMA ring, Summer spends the next two years fighting her way through the darkness. The last thing she needs is another hardheaded athlete turning her life upside down. But that’s exactly what happens when she meets a gridiron star who’s as skilled at stealing hearts as he is at snagging passes.
Carolina Cougars wide receiver Evan Townsend usually has no problem winning fans, so he’s intrigued when Summer shoots down his go-to plays for winning a woman’s attention. Never one to back down from a challenge, Evan turns up the heat, setting off sparks that neither can deny. But as his slow seduction begins to chase away Summer’s pain, he gets the feeling that someone is desperate to keep them apart. Now Evan will do anything to protect her—because he never misses a chance to make a perfect catch.

A 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Review of Catching Summer by L.P. Dover
Amy at Pages Abound
Having read the blurb to Catching Summer, I knew I needed to pick this one up and give it a try, regardless of the fact that it was the sixth book in the Second Chances Series and I had only read Book 1 previously. (I am a sucker for second chances and redemption in life.) Please note, however, there was no issue with following the storyline or the supporting characters, although it is clear there are backstories that need to be read to better understand the deep connections of some of the secondary character who played in the supporting role during this story.
With that being said, I found Chasing Summer to be a captivating read filled with loss, heartache, suspense, perseverance, and love. The characters held a connection that grew and developed out of genuine interest and respect, and the suspense, although there were a few plot issues and additional events that were not necessary to the overall storyline, contained a good amount of drama to provide moments that would serve to either bring the two characters together or drive them apart. And the prologue…well, be prepared for a heartbreaker!
I adored the strength and determination of Summer Jacobs. Although broken and hurting, she discovered the strength to push through the pain of losing her husband Austin—of having witnessed his murder—in order to embrace the life he would have wanted her to live. And Evan Townsend, the star NLF player…well, he captured my heart with his easy manner, his compassion for her situation, his confidence, and his ability to meet Summer where she was and then add just enough pressure to push her to embrace more.
Catching Summer by L.P. Dover was a fun and captivating read. I love a good romantic suspense and characters who are able to climb out of the darkness to find passion for life. And there is nothing better than reading about a someone who can see past the hurt, walls, and fear to find redemption in life.
